Trembakeshwar or Trimbakeshwar is holy place of Nashik district. Trembakeshwar temple is one of the twelve Jyothirlinga temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. The unique type of 'Shiv Linga' is inverted inside and there is a three faced structure inside the Linga, consisting Treedev, Brahma, Vishu and Shiva. The name Trembakeshwar derived from this unique Linga.
The temple is state of art built from Basalt rock. It has beautiful carvings.The work of constructing the present temple of Trimbakeshwar was begun by Shrimant Bajirao alias Nanasahib Peshawe in 1755. It took 31 years to construct the temple.


The town is appealing with natural attractions. It is at the foothills of amazing Brahmagiri mountains nestled among lusting green woody trees and picturesque environments. The serene ambiance and the pleasant climate make the town of Trimbakeshwar a hot spot for nature loving tourists. You can enjoy nature during rainy and winter season i.e. from July to Feb.



Kushavarta


There is a belief that anybody who visits Trembakeshwar attains salvation. There are many mythological stories connecting Lord Shiva, Parvati, Lord Ganesha, the Ganga and Lord Brahma. Godavari originates from the Brahmagiri hills of Trembakeshwar. Kushavarta is the place from where river Godavari takes its course. The saint Gautam and his wife Ahalya resided at this place.  Puran says that  on this hill Hrishi Gautam worshiped Lord Shiva to bring Ganga in Brahmagiri hill. Hrishi Gautam took bath in this river, wiped off his sin. It is believed that it is the birth place of Lord Ganesha.


Gorakhnath Gufa
Gorakhnath Gufa is a famous cave located at the halfway ascent in Brahmagiri hills. It is located few steps down to Gangadwar. The cave is intriguing with many attractive carvings. The gufa is on the premises of the Shrine dedicated to  Goddess Ganga in The Brahmagiri hills. It is believed that the noted Guru Gorakhnath had undergone penance here in this cave. The beautiful serene ambiance in the region make it a pleasant spot for pilgrimage.
